This and that

It has been almost a month since my last post, but I've been very busy lately (not really) since the semester is almost over and we're entering the exam period. Anyways, here are some fractals I've made this month. Enjoy!

Last Day Of Summer

Here are two brand new fractals. Both are made with Naru's Gnarly Potpourri (tma.ucl) colouring algorithm and KPK formulas (kpk.ufm). Enjoy! :)

Gnarly

Here's a fractal I made using the Very Advanced Gnarl formula and I think I used Thin Orbit Traps II (tma.ucl) colouring algorithm, but I'm not quite sure (and too lazy to check). I was going to post this on DeviantArt, but then I changed my mind and completely forgot about it until now.

Geometrical Winds

Today I decided to make a Hopalong gnarl with Naru's Gnarly Potpourri (tma.ucl) and lots of geometrix texture. I guess it's pretty obvious that I love playing around with the formulas in dmj.ufm, especially the Phoenix formulas, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that this is a PhoenixNova (Julia) fractal (bailout value: 1E-12).
I think that of all the gnarl types you can choose from, Hopalong definitely creates the coolest-looking gnarls. It's really versatile and can give all kinds of different results (a few examples: 3D, abstract and hearty). I'm pretty happy with this one, I really like all the spirals, the little details and the combination of purple and orange. Click for a bigger view and enjoy! =D

Tropical

Slope (LambdaJulia) formula (dmj.ufm), coloured with Naru's Gnarly Potpourri (tma.ucl) and KPK Squeezed Banana (kpk.ucl). It looks pretty tropical and sweet to me ^^

Gnarly Potpourri

I felt like making a Hopalong gnarl earlier today, and after about an hour of messing around in Ultra Fractal, I ended up with this. The formula I used was HalleyNova(Mandelbrot) (dmj.ufm) and I coloured it with Naru's Gnarly Potpourri, Thin Orbit Traps (tma.ucl) and KPK Squeezed Banana (kpk.ucl). I think it looks pretty neat =D

Gnarls and stuff

Yet another day with no new fractals.. I simply just don't have enough brainpower to create anything new, so I have revisited two other unpublished fractals from December 2009. It's fun to look at these old fractals and wonder what on earth I was thinking when I made them and why I chose this and this formula. Most of my fractals from that time are terrible, but these two are actually OK looking. I just played around with the colours and added a few layers, so they haven't changed that much.

General Sterling 19 formula (amm.ufm), M Fractal Tree +, Orbit Traps and Hypocycloid Trap colouring algorithms.
Magnet 2 (Julia) formula (dmj.ufm), 4-D Gnarly Orbit Traps and Popcorn Orbit Traps + colouring algorithms.

Valentine

I made this one a while ago, but I decided to save it for Valentine's Day. I don't celebrate valentines myself, I just have a habit of making valentines fractals =D
Ducky Revisited J formula (ea.ufm), Naru's Gnarly Potpurri colouring (tma.ucl) and Lake mapping.

Generator

BarnsleyTechnoJ formula and Gnarly Potpurri. This one was made with the same parameters as these fractals.

Ancient

A quickee gnarl made with Very Advanced Gnarl 1.21 formula and Harlequin II colouring algorithm. It looks a bit ancient and mysterious to me :)

Tiling and mapping fun

I had some fun with the Hexagonal Tiling 2 mapping last night, and for once it's not made with KPK Moebiu's Julia Barnsley formula! I used BarnsleyTechnoJ instead, which is another formula I tend to use too often. Anyway, these fractals are all made with the same formula and colouring algorithm, I just played around with the mapping and colours. Fun to think that these are gnarls :D

Absolutely Curtains

The title is from a Pink Floyd song :)
One KPK Moebius fractal was all it took to get me started again. Shortly after "Firecracker" was made, I opened UF again and made another fractal. Of course I was still dabbling with the same formula and the result was far from impressive and original, but I still kinda like it. It has nice little patterns in it and lots of details when you look closer, so click it for a bigger version. I really enjoy making this kind of gnarls, it's actually quite fun to create straight lines and sharp angles. I guess it's mainly because I usually make lots of swirlies and asymmetrical stuff. Anyways, click and enjoy! :)

Firecracker

First fractal of February! I haven't made anything with Ultra Fractal in a while, so I felt like I had to do a little fractal. This is yet another fractal with KPK Moebiu's Julia Barnsley formula + Naru's Gnarly Potpurri colouring algorithm. It's really simple and took maybe 15-20 minutes to put together. Enjoy! :)

Gnarly Potpurri

More KPK Moebius fractals! This time with Naru's Gnarly Potpurri from tma.ucl, because gnarls are so much fun to make! I used Hopalong, Gnarl and Driftwood.
Both fractals are really simple, only 5 and 4 layers, and each took less than an hour to make. I should probably try to make something worthy of  posting on DeviantArt and RedBubble soon, but I don't have the patience and inspiration for it at the moment.

I like this one the most, even though I'm not particularly fond of pink. I think it's mainly because I'm craving candy right now, and this one looks so sweet and sugary! =P

This one just makes me think of confetti and celebrations..

Gnarly!

After admiring BeesKnees67's beautiful fractal abstracts on DeviantArt last night, I felt like making something brownish and abstract myself. The formula I used was Very Advanced Gnarl and the colouring algorithms are too many to mention! ;)
This fractal has 12 layers and it took ages before I was happy with it. I like it a lot and I think it's a bit different from what I normally do. We'll see if I post it on DeviantArt or not, I haven't decided yet.
