This and that

It has been almost a month since my last post, but I've been very busy lately (not really) since the semester is almost over and we're entering the exam period. Anyways, here are some fractals I've made this month. Enjoy!

Last Day Of Summer

Here are two brand new fractals. Both are made with Naru's Gnarly Potpourri (tma.ucl) colouring algorithm and KPK formulas (kpk.ufm). Enjoy! :)

Friday

I made this fractal about a week ago, and then I forgot about it. This one was made with 4-D Barnsley Julia (gnd.ufm) formula and Naru's Gnarly Potpourri (tma.ucl) colouring algorithm. Enjoy!

Gnarly

Here's a fractal I made using the Very Advanced Gnarl formula and I think I used Thin Orbit Traps II (tma.ucl) colouring algorithm, but I'm not quite sure (and too lazy to check). I was going to post this on DeviantArt, but then I changed my mind and completely forgot about it until now.

Fossilized Ocean

I really like this fractal. The patterns, shapes and textures are nice and I'm very happy with the colours too. Something I'm not happy about is that Ultra Fractal had some issues when I made this one, and as a result the parameter wasn't saved. I didn't realise that until the day after, when I tried to open it again and found that it didn't exist anymore. Fortunately I had already rendered a big version of the fractal, and I remember what formula and colouring algorithm I used, but this still sucks.
This one was made with Circly Koch Curve (sam.ufm) formula and Naru's Gnarly Potpourri (tma.ucl) colouring algorithm (I used the Hopalong variation if I remember correctly). Enjoy!

Emerge

More flowers! I've been trying to make something for the June Ultra Fractal Challenge on DeviantArt, but every time I open UF I end up making something completely different. The challenge is to make a fractal using only formulas from obsolete.ufm and colouring algorithms from obsolete.ucl, which doesn't really sound that complicated. And it isn't complicated at all, I just always feel like putting my own spin on things and use different formulas and algorithms. This is also one of the main reasons why I don't like to use tutorials; I always change everything and end up with something completely different than what the tutorial shows. I guess I just don't like being told what to do.
Anyway, this is a IFS-Barnsley (M-set) (sam.ufm) fractal coloured with Doodads II and Thin Orbit Traps II (tma.ufm). I used Lake mapping on one of the layers.

Lost For Words

Here's a fractal I made last night, using KPK Barninsky (kpk.ufm) formula and Thingamajigs II (tma.ucl) for colouring. Enjoy! :)

StutterMandel fun

I just felt like making something purple.. This is a StutterMandel (dmj.ufm) coloured with Thin Orbit Traps II (tma.ucl) and KPK Squeezed Banana (kpk.ucl).

Gnarly Potpourri

I felt like making a Hopalong gnarl earlier today, and after about an hour of messing around in Ultra Fractal, I ended up with this. The formula I used was HalleyNova(Mandelbrot) (dmj.ufm) and I coloured it with Naru's Gnarly Potpourri, Thin Orbit Traps (tma.ucl) and KPK Squeezed Banana (kpk.ucl). I think it looks pretty neat =D

Floral Dreams

Another quickie fractal, the first one in a few days.. I haven't felt like making any fractals, I've tried to focus on studying and finishing my essays. Not that I've actually gotten that much work done, I have a tendency to end up watching movies or playing Secret of the Stars instead. Oh well, at least I'm trying =P Just one more week now and then it's mid-semester break! An entire week off! Not that it makes that much of a difference though,  I'm only at the university three days a week anyway. Hopefully I'll manage to finish two of my essays during the break and start on the last one. Would be nice to be able to focus on studying for my exams. But, enough school-stuff for today.
This is a Round Julia formula(mtc.ufm) with Thingamajigs II(tma.ucl) and Hypocycloid Trap(jam.ucl) colouring.

Sand And Mercury

This one is from the same fractal as Bloodshed part 2, just with different colours and slightly changed textures. The title is from a The Gathering song ^^
Phoenix Julia(standard.ufm) and Sine-Mod_III (tma.ucl).

Meh

Today has been a pretty crappy day.. I had to get up at 8 (way too early!), walk to the university for my 10 am religion lecture and then wait 3 hours for my history lecture. I forgot to buy bread yesterday, so I only had a banana, some cashew nuts and an apple for lunch (I'm too poor to buy sandwiches). By the time the history lecture started I was feeling dizzy and had a horrible headache, but somehow I managed to get through it without my brain exploding. I even managed to stop by Tesco to buy dinner on my way home!
Unfortunately, not even a yummy dinner could make my day better. My malfunctioning brain still hurts and I haven't been able to do anything productive at all. I've only played 'The Secret of The Stars' on my SNES emulator and made a quickie fractal. I'm not sure how I feel about the fractal because the colours actually hurt my eyes. Oh well, I think this is enough whining for today. This fractal was made with Rolf Freericks' Spider formula and Sine-Mod III colouring. Enjoy!

Something Spirally

Something new, at last! It's just a really simple quickie, but I still like it.
Cayley Julia formula (reb.ufm) and Thin Orbit Traps II. The first fractal is the original fractal and the two others are slightly modified zooms.

Absolutely Curtains

The title is from a Pink Floyd song :)
One KPK Moebius fractal was all it took to get me started again. Shortly after "Firecracker" was made, I opened UF again and made another fractal. Of course I was still dabbling with the same formula and the result was far from impressive and original, but I still kinda like it. It has nice little patterns in it and lots of details when you look closer, so click it for a bigger version. I really enjoy making this kind of gnarls, it's actually quite fun to create straight lines and sharp angles. I guess it's mainly because I usually make lots of swirlies and asymmetrical stuff. Anyways, click and enjoy! :)

Pretty blue

I have no idea what to call this one and I'm too lazy to come up with a title. It's just a quickee fractal anyway, I'm not going to post it on DeviantART or anything. I started this fractal earlier today, and I worked on it on and off for about 3-4 of hours. Ultra Fractal, 5 layers and KPK Moon 1 formula. I used Kampyle Of Eudoxus colouring algorithm on two of the layers and Trapestry-x on the rest.

Raspberry Swirl

Here's a little something I finished just a few minutes ago. I've been working on this for 4-5 hours now, and I'm finally happy with it. Originally it was orange, blue and black, but I figured it might look good in pink too.  ^^

Industrial Dreams

I've been trying to make this one work for days now, but I'm not actually getting anywhere. No matter what I do, it still looks mediocre. It's not a horrible fractal, but it's not good enough to post on RedBubble or any other website either. I'll probably open it sometime in the future and try again to make it look nice, but for now I'll just leave it alone. It only makes me angry =P

Alien Planet

This is an odd thingy I made for a challenge on RedBubble, and the theme is outer-space and alien planets, something that could be used as a cover on a sci-fi book. The first price is 20$, so of course I had to enter! After about two days of meddling in UF, I came up with this. It's not my best fractal, and I'm not even really sure if it fits the theme entirely, but what the heck. I posted it anyways xD

A bigger version can be seen here

Soft, explosive gnarls

Just something I made quite quickly in UF.. I think it took me about 15 minutes to come up with this, and although I kinda like it, I don't think I'll upload it anywhere else. I just wanted to make a gnarl that was good enough to be rendered, and I did. Now I can sleep well tonight xD

Ooo, and my piece "Into the Lake of Ghosts" got ten votes in the gnarl challenge on RedBubble, which was good enough to get in the top ten! Yay! :P
